Being such a large part of the athletics industry, Nike is always in the spotlight- especially with their new “Equality” ads for 2017’s black history month featuring Serena Williams, Alicia Keys and Lebron James. By this point in time you have probably seen the video of a United Airlines passenger being dragged from a plane after refusing to give up his seat. If you have seen it you know that it's pretty terrifying. The image of a man being dragged off of a plane seems like something out of a dystopian novel. The story was quick to make national news mostly because of how frightening it is. One of the most frightening things about it is that other passengers on the plane did very little to improve the situation. History is full of examples of people standing by and watching, even while witnessing the pain of others. Why is this so common?
